Through information-based and interactive exercises, this seminar provides a comprehensive introduction to diversity fundamentals, including an overview of terms, introduction to power and privilege dynamics, and examination of personal responsibilities related to addressing oppression and building practices of equity.
Diversity Seminars will bring cohorts of 15-20 participants together for cultural competency training over the course of a ten-week quarter. Seminar groups will meet once every two weeks for two hours (five meetings total) and participants will have an opportunity to engage in an online disscussion board to debrief and help process session content between meetings.
The focus of each level of training is to increase individual and organizational cultural competencies and to challenge individuals and groups to identify their roles and responsibilities related to promoting pluralism, inclusion and equity in their personal lives, worlds of work and larger communities.
